Hello, I'm Gloria.

I'm an independent curator, collection manager and advisor. I work with artists to make exhibitions, look after collections for artists and collectors, and help people buy art they'll still love in twenty years.

I think the best exhibitions feel like being introduced to someone by a mutual friend. That's the job, as I see it: know the work well enough to say why it matters, and know you well enough to say it plainly.

Good work deserves good company. Most of what I do is making the introduction.

I'm not interested in art that needs a paragraph of permission before you're allowed to like it. I am interested in the slow, specific pleasure of living with something, and in the care it takes to keep that pleasure intact for the next person.

Background

Where I've been.

Before going independent I spent eight years at a private art foundation, first as registrar and then as collections manager, looking after around 1,200 works and curating a handful of exhibitions drawn from them. It taught me how a collection actually lives: the paperwork, the storage, the loans, and the difference between a work that is owned and a work that is cared for.

Before that I studied art history, worked in a gallery back room, and spent more hours in artists' studios than in lecture halls. That's still where I'd rather be.

I went independent in 2024 so I could work more directly with artists and collectors, and because I wanted the freedom to say yes to the strange, small, wonderful projects that don't fit inside an institution.
